I first found out about the catastrophe when my mother picked my brother, my sister and I up after school from the bus stop. My mom was very sad and serious. She said she had to tell us something that would change America forever. Then she told us what happened and we went home and put the television on and continued watching the news developments throughout the evening. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Yes, I believe my life has changed. It has made me appreciate my family and friends so much more. You never know when someone you love and care about will be taken from you. I have so much compassion for all those families who lost their loved ones. I just can't imagine going through such a crisis. I am very grateful to God that my family and friends weren't lost in this terrorist attack on America. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? First, I strongly believe that the victims should never be forgotten. We must do all we can as united Americans to make sure that their lives were not taken in vain. We should hold them close to our hearts, as true American heroes. Also, I think people of all races and creeds should never forget that on September 11, 2001 we united as one people. Our country was brought together putting all prejudices aside. It is vitally important to continue this standard. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? Yes, my father replaced our decorative flag with the American flag. Yes, when I look at the American flag now I see things differently. I think of all those thousands of lives that were lost on that horrific day and it saddens my heart.
