NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I was sitting in my history class, waiting for the bell to ring when the announcement came on. It was quite the shocking thing to learn about only a few days into the school-year. In my next class, band, my teacher just turned the radio on and left us to do whatever. This was probably the best thing for all of us. It was nice being able to take in the news and reflect without worrying about anything else. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Personally, my life has not changed much at all. I still wake up every morning, go to sleep every night, and live on as always. I'm sure others may have been drastically affected by the events, or had a revelation about their own lives; I have not changed, for better or for worse. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I believe the most important thing to remember is how vulnerable our country really is. We may be the leading power in the world, but we have let ourselves become over-confident. It has also helped us to see that America is not seperate from the world. We are a part of the violence that carries on through out the world. I think one key point to remember is that many people died for something as simple as being Americans, for having a good life, and nothing more. In a world where such violence comes from such absurd motives, I can hardly bear the thought that a human being can be so twisted. It makes me incredibly ashamed to be a part of mankind. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? Yes, I did have a flag flying at my home. My feelings of the flag have not changed though. For me, the flag will always make me think of the patriotism of our fore-fathers, who gave their lives to ensure the freedom of Americans. They established our country to be a sovereign state where life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are necessities.
