NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. A little while after the events of September 11th I had the horrible fear of my dad getting called out because he's in the national guard. I wrote an e-mail that I sent out to all of my friends and I wanted to share it with you. I call it "A Teen's Cry" After all of the stuff that has happened recently in the U.S., war has become a word that I know and fear. My dad is in the Minnesota National Guard and when I think about war I think about him having to leave. If war does happen then he will be called out and I may never have a father again. I know that he chose to be in the Army but I fear it. One night, shortly after the attack on the trade centers, the phone rang. It was about 6 o'clock in the morning and everyone knows not to call at that time. I feared the worst. I thought it was the call that would call my dad out of the country and into war. I got up out of bed and hurried to the door as quiet as I could. I put my ear up to the door to try and hear what my mother, who had gotten up to answer it, was saying. I wanted to know if my dad had to go. Luckily it was only a wrong number. With a sigh of relief I went back into bed and wrapped myself in the covers. I was so afraid that the next call would be it. The next call would take my father away from me and I may never see him again. I wanted to go and disconnect the phone because I didn't want that person who decided his life to call. That one person who decided the lives of many soldiers. No matter how many family members that soldier had, his life was decided upon by another. I honestly hope that my dad will never recieve that call. Along with many children of the United States, I don't want to loose my family member because of something that someone in another country did. I know that many family members of the National Guard members agree. Don't get me wrong, I know that many people lost family members in the stupid act that someone did to the World Trade Centers. I feel that loss as well. All of America feels that loss because those men and women were our brother'n. They were just trying to make their lives easier by earning a weekly paycheck. I know that the attack was devistating and emotional for us but let's stand together. Let's not send more brother'n away to die. Many couldn't bare anymore losses right now. This e-mail is just the voice of a fellow American who doesn't want to see more die. We've all suffered enough. I hope you pass my story on to others so that they see how hard it is for some.
