NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. It was the second week of school. I had just entered 8th grade. I really wanted to look good that day because it was picture day. In the mist of getting ready my best friend called and told me that the Towers had been bombed or something crazy like that. My dad is a native New Yorker so I told him and we turned on the tv. When I went to school that day everyone was talking about what happened. Most of the teachers were crying their eyes out but the students were mainly really confused. One of my friends told me that people were suspecting a terrorist named Osama bin Laden as the plot leader. I remember thinking that I have no clue who that is. Little did I know that he would soon become a household name. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. As time went on the reality of the tragedy began to sink in. I can't watch any clips of the events of that day without crying or at least becoming teary - eyed. Now we are at war and as I'm getting older some of my friends are becoming at risk of being drafted if a draft occurs. I love New York City and have been there many times. I have gone to the Twin Towers. My family has pictures there. It is very eerie knowing that the exact spot where we were standing happily was later a death ground for thousands. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think September 11th should be remembered as a national tragedy and a day that should never be repeated again. That act of terrorism was extremely unnecessary and ruined thousands of peoples lives. Everyone should try their best to bring terrorism to an end. I think all of the innocent victims should be remembered, all of their families, and all of the heroes. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? As a result of September 11 I believe that I have more pride in my country. I am really happy to be living in America and couldn't even imagine living in another place in the world. The U.S. is the best country there is. If I would have had a car at the time I would have attached an American Flag on it but I didn't so my parents put one of their cars.
