NMAH Story: Story

I was reporting for duty at the Division Headquarters of the 82d Airborne Division. I attended a promotion ceremony for a soldier at 0900 on 11 SEP 01, and a Sergeant Major asked me, "Sir, do you know what happened at the World Trade Center?". I had no idea til I got in my office. Every television was on and there was a great deal of activity to secure the entire base of Fort Bragg, NC. The Commanding General, MG John R. Vines, convened a staff briefing and explained that we were standing by for orders, and that the world has changed.

NMAH Story: Life Changed

I am in the process of training my soliders for war. That's not unusual for a soldier, but now there's more intensity. It's tough waiting for a mission that you know is coming, but you just don't know when.
