911DA Story: Story

It was just after 6:00AM on the East coast, when my husband and I were awakened by a telephone call from a friend who was watching the first news alerts. My husband answered the telephone and gasped "Don't say that! You're joking, right?!". My husband raced toward the living room and said "We're being attacked!". I followed him, still groggy and confused. When my husband turned the television on, we both had to sit down. We were shocked and in total disbelief at what we saw. We watched in utter horror as both towers crumbled. I sat there quietly saying "No. No. No." Looking back, I guess I thought that if I sad "No" enough, that it would all go away. Of course it didn't. The news only got worse from that point on. The more we learned, the more angry we became. We watched the news faithfully for any word of survivors, and as each day passed with no good news our hope slowly dwindled. Even though we didn't know anyone involved, and we are more than 3000 miles away, it still affected me greatly. I had
horrible nightmares the first week or so, and I'm sure they were nothing compared to what all of those victims had to face. The events of September 11th, 2001 make me angry, sad and confused. But I am also SO PROUD. The passengers on flight 93 gave their lives to spare others. People came together and supported one another in a way that I've never seen before. It was an incredibly sad day, and one year later it is still so hard to accept. We've hung our flag and we're lighting a candle - just to remember. We will do this every year. No one should ever forget. To anyone who lost someone on 9/11, I'm so very sorry. We share your grief, and your pride in your loved ones. This should never have happened. To the people responsible for 9/11,
MAKE NO MISTAKE - YOU WILL BE PUNISHED FOR WHAT YOU'VE DONE. GOD BLESS AMERICA! LAND OF THE FREE - HOME OF THE BRAVE!
