NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. On the morning of September 11th I had just woken up to get ready for school. My sister turned the radio to K-Earth 101 Oldies Station. As I was deciding what to wear that day I heard about the First World Trade Center being hit. I wasn't really listening at first, but then I heard something about a plane hitting the building. I thought it was a joke at first, but after a second I realized it wasn't. I called my mom and my sister to the room and when they heard it we started to freak out. We turned on the news while we were finishing getting ready and what we saw was so... devastating. I never thought ANYTHING like this would happen to us, the (so-called) most powerful country in the world. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. My life hasn't changed much in the day-to-day sense because I didn't lose anybody that I knew or loved, but it has changed in the sense that I don't always feel secure, that I actually have to worry about war happening. I have younger brothers and I don't want them to have to fight in a war. I have family that would get drafted; it's too sad to think about. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think all the people who died should be remembered, all the people who died trying to save the people stuck in the buildings. We should remember the stupid people who did this to us- and never let them forget. We lost a lot of lives that day, a lot of people who, while there weren't important in a big sense, were still important to others. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? My mom flew a flag on her car after the events and I lit a candle (I still have it). My feelings never really changed about the flag. It made me kind of sad to think that it took a national tragedy to bring this country together, to make it more patriotic.
