Title A name given to the resource September 11 Digital Archive Stories Description An account of the resource This collection is the bulk of the archive, representing the reactions and experiences of thousands of individuals beginning in 2002. 911DA Story 911DA Story: Story Tell us about what you did, saw, or heard on September 11th. Feel free to write as much or as little as you like. Tell us your story: I remember that morning because the air was very still and there was no wind. It was very erie. I was off from work that day. I stopped over my parents house and turned on the TV. I saw the first tower after that plane had hit it. It looked like a small cesna hit the tower because I couldnt really judge the size and scale from my TV. Then all of a sudden, the second plane hit. My eyes were stuck open. I felt like someone had just hit me in the stomach with a sledgehammer. I myself am afraid to fly, so for me to see this was devistating. At that time , my father walked in the room. He looked liked his whole life was taken away from him. My father served in the Army, so he was positive it was terrorism. He also was shocked because he has cousins who worked in the Trade Center as Steam Pipe Fitters. He didnt know what to do. My father was also a Federal Agent for 26 years, my brother is a Detective and My sister is also a Fedral Agent. All I could imagine is that all those people being burned alive. I wanted to shout to the firemen and police "Dont go in there!!", but how would they hear me? The first tower than fell. I gaged and almost threw up. I started to get watery eyes. All those people being crushed to death, "oh my god", I thougt. "who could have done this?" About 15 minutes later, the second tower fell. I knew this was not an accident. I felt hatred for every non-american at that instant. I would probably have killed the first middle eastern person I saw if I did in fact see one. How could someone be so cowardly as to deprive that many people of life and freedom? I didnt see the Pentagon get hit yet, but then it just flashed onto the screen of my TV. I even thought of how the TV would feel if it knew it was diplaying this tragic event on its screen. I thought,"Were under attack". I got of the couch and got my gun from the hutch. I locked my doors and windows. I called my sister, brother and brother-in-law and asked them if they were staying home, they said yes. I felt a little better, but those poor people, their all dead. I couldnt even imagine what a death like that must feel like. I remeber saying to myself,"I hope someone got out alive". At that time, my aunt called saying that my dads cousins got out of the towers 10-20 seconds before they fell. The got banged up pretty good from all the debris, but their alive. I started crying. It was just to much for me to take. I threw up again, passed out on my couch and woke up about 1 hour later. I went back to my apartment and cried some more. My face was glued to my TV for about a week straight. When Pres. Bush declared war. I stood up and saluted him on TV. I was at that moment so proud to be an AMerican that if I had the chance, I would go over seas to avenge all my fellow americans murders. All of us should be happy we did not die that day. But, A little piece of all of us died and it will never ever come back. I vowed to my god and to my country that I will never slander any american again ever as long as I live and I will make sure that I salute every flag I walk by and love every breath of air I breath in this country. We are the most powerful country on earth. No one is stroger than us in patriotism, love and good will towards man. I wish I could shake George W. Bush's hand right now and tell him that if I was the last man in the USA, I would fight to my death protecting out country. Be proud to be an American. Dont hate people or anything because you feel a different way. Life is too precious and all of us deserve to live our lives to the fullest. This event has changed my life forever. I have become a better person and I love my country and god 1,000,000 times than before. If we stick together and be one nation under god, no attack will ever kill us. The spirit doesnt die, and America has the strongest spirit ever. Lets protect it. Thanks for listening.
