I was teaching art in my elementary school classroom in Winchester, VA, when suddenly, another teacher came to my door and informed me of the terrible events which took place that day. The kids knew there was something wrong by the look on my face. I don't know how they knew... but they knew. They asked me what was wrong. I said, "Many people died today. Today is a day you will remember for the rest of your life." We weren't allowed to tell the children what had happened that morning. The decision was made to let the parents tell them after school. Some of our students have parents who work at the Pentagon.
