NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. On the morning of September 11, 2001, I was busily and and worrylessly getting ready for another day of 8th grade. My dad, who was at the time watching the news, told me that an airplane had just crashed into one of the twin towers in New York. At first I figured that it was just an accident, and I was trying to remember which buildings were the twin towers. Then, my dad yelled from the other room that another plane had hit the other tower! All of the sudden it was like "Oh my gosh. We are under attack." That day everyone was talking about it, several of my teachers made comments about how silly it was that we were holding school on that day, and how school wouldn't be important after the war started. It was really scary, it was like this whole nation, its strength and its security, was completely shattered. Everyone was scared. My church prompted us to pray for everyone that was killed in those crashes, and for their families. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Absolutely, I think everyone's have. Everyone is paranoid, people wouldn't even go on airplanes anymore. There was all this hate for Osama Binladin. All the threats against our nation from other terrorist groups were suddenly taken seriously. It was unnerving, seeing all that changed from that point on. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? The people who died, and their families who had to suffer so much pain because of it. Also, how enthusiastic Osama was about how much damage it did to our country. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? No, I did not fly a flag. I thought it was very unpatriotic to fly one after it happened. I say, where were those flags before that day? Where were people's patriotism then? It's not real patriotism if they only flew one after that day happened.
