NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I remember starting my day just like any other here in Arizona. I was leaving for work when I pulled out of my driveway and heard the terrible news of what had happened on the radio. At first, I couldn't believe my ears. I remember thinking they must have been playing back some sort of tribute to an event or possibly it wasn't even real. I listened a little closer to begin to understand that they were talking about the morning's events and immediately called my husband who was still at home. I told him to turn on the TV and find out what was going on. I was scared. I wanted to turn the car around and hold onto my husband. I remember thinking that the last place anyone should be right now is alone or at work. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Yes, being from a younger generation it has always been difficult to fully understand such immense impacts like this one on history. This is one of the major events from my lifetime that I will talk with my own children about. I feel a greater respondsibility to future generations to teach them what this was about and to make sure they know what America stands for. I think that this event has given me a greater understanding of that also. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think that all the love, support, pride in our country and all of those lost should be remembered. I think faith should be remembered also. Faith in God, in eachother and in this great nation. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? Yes. I saw the most Red, White and Blue after these events. We hung ribbons from our cars. We wore the nations colors. We even held a drive at work to raise money for the victims. We painted car windows for donations. So many people wanted the flag painted on their car windows. It was beautiful.
