NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. We were vacationing at Sun River, Oregon, staying in a rented condo. I was helping my sister, a novice sewer, construct fleece jackets for her family for Christmas. We had the TV on, watching the news, when suddenly the horror of the planes crashing into the World Trade Center appeared on the screen. We were deeply saddened, horrified, and our emotions flowed between anger to fear of what was to come. Then we learned of the Pentagon being crashed into, and my sister thanked God for delaying the transfer of her daughter and her MI group to that very section. This is one time that a delay in construction was welcomed. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. In some ways, yes. I am more thankful for the gifts that I have in family and loved ones, my church family and friends, and the blessing of living in the U.S. Life is so fragile and we don't know when we will make our final exit from this earth. I appreciate each day more, and don't put anything off, be it travel or trying something new. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? We should remember how the country came together, especially where the tragedies occured, how people helped their fellow man, how they sacrificed for others. I would love it if this country would capture and preserve the patriotism which slowly came to the surface and lasted for a few months. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? We've always flown the flag, proudly, but more often after 9-11. In a way my feelings have changed about the American flag. The freedoms which the flag represents should never be taken for granted. We are so blessed! Being of the WWII generation, patriotism was alive when I was growing up. I've always had deep respect for the flag.
