NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. On September 11 I was sitting in one of my classes at school when all of a sudden some kind of news was flowing throughout the class. People were saying that the World Trade Center had an airplane crash into it and that the building itself had collapsed. At first I was thinking, "yeah ok, what are you kidding me? I thought it was just some rumor or someone had accidentally misinterpreted something differently from which really had of happened to the WTC. As the day went by, more and more people were discussing this and at some point it had hit me that what I'm hearing from everyone sounds pretty true. On the way to my seventh period class I was still pretty skeptical about what I had been hearing, but as the bell rang our teacher turned on the television. There it was right in front of my face, the WTC had been attacked, and it all seemed so unrealistic. I was really shocked to see this and didn't know what to think. I was mostly angry, but such a huge thing like this wasn't easy to try and sit down and keep hearing about. I'll probably never forget that moment when I actually saw the way the building looked. It's just something you don't see everyday, and I hope to god we don't have to witness something like it again. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. My personal life honestly hasn't been affected by what had happened. But my perspective of how I look at terrorism has changed. It's obviously a serious matter, but I never thought something of such a large scale to us like this could of ever happened. I'm still angry, just like everyone else, about what those people had done to our country. So many peoples lives were taken, and many families devastated. I think now that our country needs to stay more alert, and be more prepared for ANYTHING. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? What I think SHOULD be remembered about September 11 is how our whole country sort of came together to help one another. The way the firemen, policemen, nurses, doctors and many others made their way to help out our country's people. For this period of time people seemed to be more nice to each other. People waved American Flags and were more proud of their country. Those are the things I think that should be remembered throughout the time when this tragedy occurred. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? At my house we did put up an American Flag. My feelings have changed about our flag. I think it means more too many American's and represents a symbol of strength from what we all went through.
