NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. My name is Shannon Shorter, I heard it on the radio. Then as I got home I saw it on the news. I felt lost for words and emotions even though the tears came rolling down. Watching the horror of the planes in the towers and at the Pentagon.Seeing all the blood,smoke, and death it was unbareable at times. Then hearing of the heros on Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Even in turmoil there are those that will prevail. The crew and passengers did on Flight 93 and so shall we.I had a friend that was missing in NY she was in the subway under the World Trade Center. She was one of the lucky ones who was able to get out. So I am able to feel empathy for those who were not able to come home to their family and friends. For the weeks to come I wore my colors proudly. Everyday to work I was in red,white and blue. I still can not believe to what has happened. Some still fear but I don't. I shall live my life for those lost as rememberance. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. My life has changed drasticly. I use to dread getting out of bed and facing another day. It took our country to go through this terror for me to feel alive. I have never felt this proud of my country in my life. Especially from my heritage point of view. Everything they went through. I display my love for my Country even more. Everyday for the past year I wear some form of red, white and blue. I appreciate each day even more. I will live for those lost. I still may have a few days where I have a hard time at living but all I do is look at my living room wall and feel the love all over again. For my living room is nothing but flags and articles of red, white and blue. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? What I think should be remembered is not the destruction that has come to us but the togetherness the country shares. The rememberance of those lost and, remembering for those who knew them, the life they lived and the sacrifice they gave. They died so we may live to remember. Take away the fire,the pain,the fear and replace with love,unity and peace. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? Yes I flew a flag before, after, and still to this day. I think may feelings have changed. I have a new respect for the flag and I am more proud of it and the people that represent it. The President,the Military, Police Officers, Fire Fighters and the EMS.
