NMAH Story: Story
I was in Park Ridge, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago. I was in my basement cleaning out a cabinet. I always watch channel 7 abcnews and the Good Morning America show. I remember they interrupted the broadcast to show the top of one of the world trade centers on fire. I saw the second plane hit the other tower. I remember calling my mother at work at her school. She is a school teacher. I wanted to tell her before she heard it from someone else. She did not see a television until she arrived home. I went out to do a couple of errands. When I got back both towers were down. I remember at that time hearing the pentagon had been hit as well as a plane going down in Pennsilvania. Mayor Daley had come on saying everyone in the city could go home. All airports were shut down. My home at the time was in Niles. I usually took our blue line which goes to O'Hare Airport home. I decided not to go that. I took an alternate route home. I remember looking at the television from then on.
NMAH Story: Life Changed
At the time of the tragedy I had a boyfriend. That boyfriend is now my husband. He is a wonderful man. We got engaged on February 7th of this year. We got married on Friday, May 31st. We went on to have three receptions to accomadate our families and friends. You really learn to appreciate life very much.
