NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. As I watched the events unfold throughout the day, I began to realize just how tragic this event was. I watched as the brave firefighters, policemen and port authority rushed into the building even while it was falling to the ground. I watched in horror as people lept from the 70th floor to avoid being burned alive. I watched as the second plane crashed into the World Trade Center Towers. And I watched as an American symbol of capitalism crumbeled to the ground. As hard as I tried to fight back tears, I could not. I was uncertain, and angry and sad all at the same time. I wondered waht would happen to our beloved freedoms after this herendous attack. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Yes, I am much more cautious about everything. Things I used to take for granted like tractor trailers on the road, became symbols of fear to me. I wondered about every plane flying overhead, every unmarked truck driving by, and every man or woman I passed on the street. Could this person be the next terrorist? NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? We should remember most of all the heroes that died in the tragic events that unfolded on 9/11. The firefighters, the policemen, the port authority, the passengers on the planes and the thousands of unknown men and women that gave their lives that day. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? I flew the flag before the events on September. The flag has always been a source of pride to me. This pride and respect that I experience was only increased by the events on September 11th. But, I think that every American in the country felt the way I did. We all felt unified, as our forefathers intended so long ago.
