NMAH Story: Story
I happened to turn on the news that morning as Matt Lauer and Katie Couric were talking about a plane hitting the first tower. As Matt Lauer was talking the second plane hit. It was then an awful realization hit that America was under attack. My daughters and I were watching in disbelief as this was happening. How can anyone say this is justice, that thousands of innocent people are murdered? Unfortunately for those who caused the attacks, it only made our resolve stronger and made us love our country more.
NMAH Story: Life Changed
I now live in fear. We hear such ominous messages that America will fall and we haven't seen the last of the attacks on America. I know more attacks will happen and it leaves me with fear and dread for my children and grandchildren. What kind of world are they inheriting? But I have not changed how I live my life. I still do the same things in the same ways, but I am more scared of flying. It is terrible to live with constant fear that something will happen - wondering if you or your loved ones will be the next victims.
NMAH Story: Remembered
That what happened brought out the very best in America. That we showed the world what America is made of. That we ARE a land of freedoms - freedoms that we were attacked for but will protect ever more. Because our freedoms, resolve, and spirit ARE what make us America.
NMAH Story: Flag
I have always had an American flag. I do look at the flag differently now, because everytime I look at it, I see September 11th, not the civil war, or world war one or two, but September 11th, because that is the loss and sacrifice I associate with as an American. And it makes me proud of who I am.
