NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. When the attacks of September 11th happened I was in my math classroom here at Glen Este High School in Cincinnati. When the teachers first turned on the televisions I really think we were all in shock. Many of us unsure how to react and others thinking of family members who lived in the area of the disaster. I honestly believe I saw 1 million different emotions and feelings towards the tragedy just from walking down the halls at school. Every single student reacted differently. I personally at first did not know what to think. I was thinking of my cousin Troy as I heard about the pentagon because I knew he had been there earlier that week. The most important thing on my mind at that point was family. I just wanted to go home and watch the news, and that is about all I did for the next several weeks. Just trying to get all the facts to try and figure out for myself why in th world someone would do such a thing. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. I think I just really respect life more. You never think of how easy it is for someone to take what you have until something like this happens. It's a real shame that it takes something like this to unite America but in all reality I honestly believe it did. I've never seen more people show love for their country in my life. I think it changed me by looking at stuff for other views. Mostly I just sit back and think of the things that are really important in life....and they aren't always the same as they used to be. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think it should be remembered and not forgotten. People should look at that as an example. It's almost like the Hitler situation. You learn from the past to prevent the same mistakes in the future. I think this taught the government a lot about how we were running our country and how it should be changed for the better. We all need to remember those who were lost and talk to those who made it out. I also think we should remember the pilot who took his plane down in a field, it took courage I believe. I think he took that plane down because he knew he was going to die and wanted to save the lives of others whom had no idea what was going on. Just remember it! NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? Yes actually my family did. We had them on the houses, cars and four wheelers. I think I just realized that the flag was a symbol of freedom that could be taken away from us and that I shouldn't take it for granite.
