NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I was in a YMCA swimming excercise class when someone came in and told the instructor that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. My first thought was that a small craft had accidentaly hit the tower. When I was leaving, a friend at the desk said that the second tower was hit by a large plane. I wanted to get sick, then and there, but rushed home to watch the television. I was numb with shock and fear and sorrow for all those whose lives seemed to be lost. I then had to retell what information I knew to two school age children, trying to to frighten them. I cried whenever I could go into another room and wanted to scream but could not because of my children. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. I am often sad and depressed over the events of 9/11 even though I did not loose anyone personally. Relatives and friends managed to escape the area. At memorials and masses I find myself barely holding back tears over such a loss of life, those in the Towers and those who tried to rescue them. As much as I believe in God, I want temporal justice for those who were involved in these attacks and I mean capital punishment. The God that I believe in would never approve of such acts in His name. I've one child who will not get on an airplane again - ever. I don't blame her. Our lives will never be the same again. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? That men, in their twisted view of religion and righteousness, used the name of God to do such unspeakable acts. They must be brought to justice. The families of all who died will have no rest, no peace until justice is meted out. We should all of the victims families in our hearts and prayers, on 9/11 and beyond. We shoudl also remember that we came together in a time of extreme crisis and stood as one. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? I have a renewed respect for MY flag, for what it stands for and reminds me of. I touch it, hold it, and through my sadness over recent events find myself wanting to say to all comers - embrace this with me or return from where you came.
