About a week before I started my sophomore year of college, I was driving to work at a construction sight, listening to Howard Stern. I heard of attack on the WTC, and thought, wow, he has got to be low to mention such things. I changed the radio station, only to find that they were talking about the same scenario on each radio station in my area (Janesville, WI). Could it be true? Was this really happening? I called my mother whom was already at work to talk with her, and she was just as shocked as I. As I went to work, I listened to the radio until lunch, and then I returned home, watching the terrible destruction that had fell upon lower Manhattan on that fateful morning... NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. I have realized what being an American is all about. I am currently studying abroad in Australia, and find it hard to understand why people not from American do not understand what happened on that day. It was a day that opened my eyes, and made me realize that what I have in America is not a given, it is a privledge. Thousands have people have given thier lives so that I can live a happy and free life, and I would do the same to ensure that others could after me. It is a shame that not everyone around the world realizes how great American is, but all that matters, is that as a nation, WE realize how fortunate we are. We must always remember all of the lives lost, not just on September 11th, but the lives lost throughout all the battles and war that made America what it is today.
