NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. Just a few minutes after I woke up, but before I got out of bed, my mom came into my room and told me a plane had flew into the World Trade Center. Not knowing anything about the twin towers and what they were used for, I got up and watched the news in my parents' room. I saw everything (involving the WTC's) live from just after the first plane hit, to the collapse of the south tower. At my school bus stop, I learned of the attack on the Pentagon. Because my school said nothing about what was happening that day, I only heard of the second collapse and the crash in Pennsylvania when I returned home. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Because of September 11th, I have learned so much more about our country and the freedom we are guaranteed. I found out how brave our nation's heroes are. The real heroes who will sacrifice their own life in an attempt to save another's are the people are help keep our country together. I have also learned how precious our freedom, rights, and justice is. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think what should be remembered about 9/11 is that terrorists who tried to change America forever... succeeded. Now we, as a nation, are stronger, more patriotic, and unified than before. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? Although I myself did not fly an American flag, I do see it differently now. The flag, to me, once symbolized America as an independent country, but now means so much more. I currently see the 'stars and stripes' as a symbol of our patriotism, strength, unity, freedom, and bravery as well as out independence.
