NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I am a registered nurse and was working in the open heart intensive care unit of my hospital. One of my patients were watching the tv when the news broke in with the first attack on the WTC. From that moment on we were all glued to the tvs while still trying to care for our patients. All the tvs were tuned into this horrible event. I, at first, wanted to rush home to get my daughter out of school as some others had done. But I also had a responsibility to care for my critically ill patients. So I stayed, with my coworkers, and watched in shock and horror while the events unfolded. Many tears were shed that day at work. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. I have strived to stay in touch and get in touch with many of my friends and family since September 11, 2001. I make sure everyone I know knows that I love and appreciate them. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think we should always remember the horrible wrong perpetrated on all the innocent victims of that day. We should always remember the loved ones left behind. We also need to remember how patriotism was reignited in all of us and how many courageous men and women have emerged to serve both to help with the cleanup and get people to safety on that day. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? I have flown my flag every day since September 11, 2001. My feelings about the flag has not changed. I have always been aware of the significance of the flag and feel a strong patriotism.
