NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I remember Sept. 11 as if it were yesterday. It was a beautiful morning and I was in my kitchen watching Good Morning America as I do every morning. I can remember taking a drink of my coffee and passing in front of the television and seeing a picture that I could not believe. I sat down in front of the TV and cried. How dare someone come into my country and kill so many innocent people. The pictures coming into my home via the TV were horrific. I also remember thinking where is my government. Is'nt someone supposed to be protecting us from this sort of thing. My children and husband were off at work, my grandson was at daycare, is there going to be and attack near us, do I go and try to get everyone home. The feeling to helplessness was overwhelming. I live near petro-chemical and a nuclear plant so I was also afraid that this could happen to us. Jarreau, louisiana NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. I think my like has changed. I'm more aware. I don't take anything for granted anymore. My freedoms were always precious but they are more precious now. My eyes were opened as to how vunerable we are as a free nation. I knew the USA was disliked in many countries but I never knew the extent of their hatred. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think we should remember everyday all of the Americans that died and all of the ones that were left behind by this horrific and cowardly act. Let us remember that not all people of the world love America as we do and that we should always be aware. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? I flew my flag long before Sept. 11 and well continue to fly it everyday. My flag is a symbol of the freedoms that those that came before me fought and died for.
