I woke up on September 11, 2001 and saw the attacks on the news, though I didnt realize it then I would soon realize that this was a point in history. When got to school at High Tech High in San Diego, the principle called an emergency Community Meeting. He gave the news of the Twin Towers and the Pentagon with despair none of us were terribly shaken by the news we all soon realized that this was the worst thing to happen to the American people in a long time. Seeing the desperation of those who jumped to their deaths from high up on the World Trade Center made me understand how bad it really was. Now hearing the numbers of all that died as a result of the terrorist activity, over five thousand was such a surprise. I think these acts have changed America for the better, all Americans are more patriotic now, instead of someone describing himself or herself as African-American or Asian- American, and people now describe themselves as simply American! I get a lump in my throat when I see how patriotic we all are, and it saddens me that it took such a heinous monstrosity to bring out the best in Americans.
