NMAH Story: Story
It was a beautiful September day the sky was all blue, not a cloud in the sky. I had just woked up at 8am and my boyfriend had on the news (as usual). All of a sudden the news was showing a plane going into the WTC. My heart sank I felt a lump in my throat......Rich had been in the Navy prior for 9 years and had just gotten out I asked him what the hell is going on? He said baby it's not an accident! I tried to collect myself and by the time I had the second plane hit, I started screaming and crying that is when the phone started ringing. I could not speak to anyone I had to get in touch with my brother Robert, he worked in that area. I could not get him...I started praying to god that he would be okay and so would our friends in the WTC and people we didn't know. It was to late the building collasped and I could not speak or move I just sobbed. When the news of the pentagon was hit I felt like someone had violated me. I asked Rich the Pentagon? How? I always thought of the Pentagon as being untouchable. I know different now. My sister had paased away at the age of 27 and I prayed so hard that he would spare my brothers life!! I could not loose him.I refused to speak to anyone, not even my mother. 7 hours later the phone rang it was a strange number but for some reason I took the call it was my brother at his boss's house in Jersey City, he said im okay, and I love you! I will be home as soon as possible. let mommy and daddy know.
NMAH Story: Life Changed
September 11, 2001 has changed my life forever! When I was younger I do a report on WW11 my uncle was at Pearl Harbor when we were attacked, I asked him could that ever happen here? He smiled comforted me and said "NO". He died prior to September 11, 2001. I feel scared to do the normal things I did everyday. I look over my shoulder. Everyday I thank god I have my family togther, but not everyone was lucky and I feel pain for their suffering. Innocence was stolen from all of us in one way or another. We have been violated by people who we don't even know and are not "proud" enough in their "cause" to show their faces...
NMAH Story: Remembered
September 11, 2001 should be remebered by everyone in America. It was not just firemen, police officers, EMT's, but people going to work just like any day or any of us. They were not walking into work not a battle. These people who I don't even know I morn for them and their families, and for the people who died just doing what they do......
NMAH Story: Flag
I have always had a deep respect for the American Flag, but when that flag was founf at ground zero and was put up I felt a new respect, an honor to see the red ,white and blue. Old glory still stood tall and proud. Just as we americans have.United we Stand are not just words but rather a normal day. I was proud to be an AMERICAN prior to 9/11 and now I am more proud and honored. The terroist may have hurt us, knocked down our buildings, but they will never take away the AMERICAN spirt or what it stands for!!! May god bless AMERICA, all those who lost their lives on the darkest day in history, and to the service men who have died in the past fighting for our rights and who are fighting now. Each and everyone that has given their life in the name of freedom! We honor ALL of you!
