NMAH Story: Story
I woke up and immediately turned on my television as I got dressed for school. After flipping through some channels I saw the news reporting on some building that was on fire. I didn't much care for another building on fire and I assumed it was nothing too big. I continued changing the channels as if nothing was happening. Later that morning my carpool informed me of the attacks, but even they were uncertain of the details which left me wondering how accurate their account could be. We were informed of the attacks at school and sent home for the day. When I got home I was just in time to witness the second tower collapsing.
NMAH Story: Life Changed
After the attacks had ended I realized how stupid I had been. I had seen history as it was unfolding yet I completely looked past it because I thought it wasn't as important as watching sports highlights. I realized that even if it had just been some small building on fire, like I initially thought, it would still be worth my time. Even a small fire could mean so much to someone so for sure this attack should have an affect on all of us. I learned to not be in such a hurry with my life and to appreciate things for what they really are. I've also become more aware of my surroundings at all times.
NMAH Story: Remembered
I think that all of the heroic stories and people as well as the way in which the entire country seemed to come together with one thing in mind should be remembered from September 11th. Unfortunately those things had to come out of such a horrible attack, but those are things that we may never be able to witness again in our lives. The selflessness exhibited by the firefighters of New York is something that should never be forgotten.
NMAH Story: Flag
My family did. I had always been proud to be an American, but after the attaks of September 11th I had a new sense of patriotism. It was stronger than it had ever been before and still is.
