NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I remember when and where I was exactly when I heard the news. It was a little bit after 9'o clock. Since I was only 14 I was in my high school geometry class. We started to do our indvidual work when we heard a knock at the door. My teacher answered it and I remember the look on her face. Right away I could tell that the news was bad, but at that time I thought nothing of it and went back to my work. It wasn't long, about 50 seconds, that the term bad was an extreme understatement. The teacher got our attention and told us that something horrible has happened. She couldnt even tell us. She just turned on the TV and the sight before me was one I will never forgot. The image on the screen was of the first Twin Tower ablaze. I saw the fire, the smoke, and heard the screams of people running for cover. I saw firemen, police officers, and even civilians running into the burning tower to save human life. As I watched I could just feel the energy being drained from my body as I came at a realization that I hoped I would never face, America wasn't invincible. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. I don't think my life has changed that much. It has changed my out look on life. I now realize that this could very well happen anywhere at anytime, we never know what the future holds. I think that 9/11 made everyone look at their life and say "I have been thinking that everything is guarenteed." It made the realize that there may not be a tommorow and to live each day to the fullest and always doing whats right. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think that the most important thing to remember is the men and women who were willing to give their lives to save others. We should remember how in the moment of need, everyone all over the country came togther and pitched in. Weither it was giving blood or donating money to Red Cross, everyone and everywhere in the country contributed. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? The first thing I did when I came home was make sure we had a flag was flying in our frong yard. I wanted to make sure that we showed our love and pride for our country. I always loved seeing our flag. Even before 9/11 I filled with pride every time I saw a flag. The only thing that changed after 9/11 was that pride was even greater knowing that the worst has come but we still stand strong.
