NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I remember on the morning of September 11th I was in the high school nurse's office when another faculty member came in and turned on the tv to show us what was happening. It was like watching something that came from a movie-surreal and unimaginable. It didn't seem like it was acutally happening until I came home that day to see the Pentagon burning and the towers collapsing on the news. Then the plane crashed in Pennsylvania. I wasn't sure when it was going to end...and I guess in a way it hasn't stopped since there is still the threat of terrorism. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. My life has changed because I am now caught in a generation that will always be on the lookout, guarding the safety of themselves and their families. For me, the plane crash in Pennsylvania came too close to home. I only live a few minutes from there, so I was pretty shaken. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? I think that the lives that were lost should be remembered most importantly. Sure, the towers and the Pentagon are still symbols of America, but I think that the citizens of this country are more important than any building. We should also remember the heroes as well. Not only have they helped us rescue the victims, but they give us hope that if we were the ones trapped in such a situation that we would be rescued. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? At my house, our flag is always flying, before, during, and after the attacks. I feel that our flag has always represented something great beyond my imagination, but I have a renewed respect for it now.
