NMAH Story: Story
I was walking down the school hallway when a 7th grade Social Studies teacher came out of his room saying the World Trade Center had been hit. I then went back into my room and turned on the T.V. I couldn't help but be glued to the T.V. I gave my students the oppurtunity to watch it if they wanted. Many did choose to watch the rest of the day and we talked a little about what was happening and how this was going to affect the U.S. A few students showed emotion but many didn't understand what really was going on. It was like this was just another movie to some which was saddening.
NMAH Story: Life Changed
Yes, everytime I see a commercial jet go over our school which is in the path of our regional airport I can't shake those thoughts from my memory. Also as a science teacher I still have a hard time understanding how one of those monsters gets off the ground and then to replay the events of 9/11 makes me cringe.
NMAH Story: Remembered
Definitely those who lost their life and the families who still today look for answers.
NMAH Story: Flag
No I did not fly the flag at home however everywhere you looked at school a flag was visible. The flag has completely taken on new meaning since 9/11. We as a nation became immune to it's meaning. Now it is everywhere, as it should be.
