NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I wasn't one in New York at the time of the tragedy. I was at home in Oak Lawn IL. At first I didn't understand what was goin on because I was in school. I got home and my mom and dad were watching the tv. I didn't really care what they were watching because I didn't know what was goin on. I sat down and watched the news and the videos they had on the planes crashing into the buildings, and the buildings collapsing. I was shocked. Why would someone want to do such at thing to the United States? What did we do to them? You'd have to be sick to do such a thing and kill that many people. That next week I watched the news everyday to update myself on what was going on. Still today I can't imagine being there, or being in one of the buildings. As and individual, i taped the news and wrote in a journal about what happened on that day. I plan to share it with my children one day in the future and tell them about it and what had happened during my childhood. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. My life has changed just a little bit. I now appriciate people who give up their time and lives for others. The people who do good services for other deserve a lot of credit. I was going to give blood to the people in New York who needed it, but i wasn't old enough. I wanted to help and be apart of September 11th, but in another way other than being a firefighter. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? Yes, my family flew the American flag after the events of September 11th. To this day our flag is still out flying high. My feelings have chages slightly to the event that happened on September 11th. I now believe that the flay should be flown everyday and it should be treated well. Everyone should follow the rules that the flag has to keep it save and away from harm. Think of the flag as the people who died. You want to keep the memory of them safe and away from harm. So why not do that for the flag too?
