NMAH Story NMAH Story: Story How did you witness history on September 11th? Share your experience. I went to work as usaual at a very early hour driving a mixer truck for a local concrete company in Jackson, MS. As the sun came up I thought how nice a day it was going to be. A little after 8:15 CT my wife Pam called me on my cell phone as I was arriving back at the plant for another load of concrete and told me she heard an airplane had hit the World Trade Center in New York City and it may have been terrorists. After hearing this I went up to the plant managers office to listen to the radio. The manager then pulled up something on the internet and we watched in awe as the first tower fell. Having to do my job I had to recieve updates from people out on the job, my wife via cell phone, and the radio and internet between runs at the plant. I had no radio in my mixer truck, however I got information from the plant manager and the end-loader operator,(Randy) in between runs. About 3:00PM Local time I was in the manger office when Randy recieved a telephone from his mother. To this day I will never forget how Randy threw down the telephone, ran over to the wall and beat on it yelling, NO,NO,NO. Watching media coverage intermidately all day long, none of us, even Randy, had any idea that his brother was on the flight that crashed into the Pentagon. Jon Ferguson had lived in Boston and worked with the National Geografic Socitey educating children about Geography around the world. Jon as well as his co-worker and several children on a very special trip perished on that fateful day. Unfortanley, I never had the privlege to meet Jon but I'm sure he must have as caring and loving as his brother. The last year was hard on us as Americans and it affected us as a whole. May the Lord Bless the Ferguson family and all families whom were so devasted by the events of September 11, 2001. NMAH Story: Life Changed Has your life changed because of September 11, 2001? If so, tell us how. Seeing the affects personably from a family I never realy knew it makes me appreciate what these people go through and how it can happen to any family at anytime. I grew up in a samall Mississippi town where you didn't lock your doors at night. Times have changed. We have to live free but be aware of our surroundings a little more. NMAH Story: Remembered What do you think should be remembered about September 11th? That our free society is vernible and some sectures will destroy it at any cost. That 3,000 lives were lost on 9-11-01 and the majority never knew they were under siege. That we have people that care about thier fellow people at any cost... even if it means our own life for thiers. NMAH Story: Flag Did you fly an American flag after the events of September 11th? Have your feelings about the American flag changed as a result of September 11th? We have always flown the American flag appropriatly on certain occasions and always will. If it were not for our fore-fathers we would not have a flag to fly and be proud to live in such a wonderful country. We flew old glory before and we will fly it forever.
