from only a mile away

from only a mile away
i watched a tower fall.

i watched a dream
of cinematic scope,
worldly proportions
and fragile hope.

from only a mile away
i watched a tower fall

to rubble and disaster,
fire and flame,
bodies and hopes
and dreams deranged.

from only a mile away
i watched a tower fall

and now i see
a presence fly
to hope, to life
now towards the sky:

from only a mile away
i watched a pheonix rise.

-----

as i sit waiting

there has been atragedyhere
and as i sit waiting
early to my day
wondering if any among us
the living
are no longer with us.
there has been atragedyhere
which i watched from only a mile away
destruction; decay
wondering how my life
the living
mustand can we?move on.
there has been atragedyhere
now lost to a gothic tomb
early to death fallen
and so are we now early?
to victory?
to rise?
there has been atragedy
where?
