AARP, along with the rest of downtown DC was evacuated at 11:30 yesterday morning. David and I and two co-workers walked home (8-9 miles). The streets were very orderly, total gridlock for cars, but orderly enough. Walking across the 14th street bridge was surreal as a nice breeze kicked up on a sunny day, and jet fighters flew low cover overhead and the black clouds of smoke were visible over the Pentagon and fanned out south.

We are back at work today.
