The families of gay and lesbian victims suffer the same grief and devastation that other families do. Our country must help all that suffered losses from these terrible attacks, not discriminate against some families who happen to be gay or lesbian. Many Americans who died in the attacks on September 11 left behind loved ones. Some of these Americans were gay or lesbian. I urge the department to treat the families of these victims the same as they treat the other victims. They all deserve to be treated equally in terms of the Sept. 11 Victim Compensation Fund.
