He stated that when it comes to compensating domestic partners of victims he will have to follow state laws. Although some states recognize heterosexual partnerships outside of marriage virtually none will recognize those between same-sex partners. However, the fund will overlook some laws when compensating illegal aliens. I find this absolutely disgraceful and divisive. This should be a time for healing by recognizing ALL who lost someone or suffered due to the tragedy. Please do not squander this opportunity for healing by reverting to the petty politics of bigotry and hate. In the memory of please do what is right and automatically compensate the gay or straight partners of unmarried victims.
