Compensation For Family/Partners Of 9-11

I can not believe the bigoted treatment of some victims of 9-11. We are going to compensate family members of those killed who were in the US as illegal immigrants but we have the unmitigated gall to deny compensation to gay/lesbian partners of victims because of state law. If Federal law didn't over rule state law in the field of illegal immigrants there would be state laws against them. The Federal government is twisting and bending and playing with words to avoid offending homophobic bigots. Sexuality should not enter into the compensation for spouses/partners, gay or straight, just that they were victims of a horrible crime. , on the other hand actively participated in preventing another horrible tragedy in Washington. His contribution was just as much or more than the straight men and women on that plane and his partner deserved just as much compensation as any one else. His and the other gay victims partners lost the love of their life just as the others did. This country is said to be one where people are treated fairly and equally. It doesn't sound like it.
