The Gay and Lesbian community has always stood shoulder to shoulder when making contributions and decisions that affect the future of New York City as a whole. Many of them have made New York City their home. Unfortunately, like many of our heterosexual brothers and sisters, they have lost thier Life Partners and other loved ones on Septembe 11. We owe it to them make some contribution, just as they have when others have needed them. Money itself will obviously not compensate for the loss of a loved one. However it will go a long way towards rebuilding their lives, be it through sustaining their living expenses or by getting the greif counseling that they are going to need! The lives of the many gay and lesbian couples are just as in need of the attention and financial contributions that they have selflessly contributed to in the past. I urge you to take this into serious consideration when making decisions regarding the September 11 Vicitm Compensation Fund. Thank you.
