I think that the government is not the right group to be providing
compensation to victims. That is the role of private relief groups.
Otherwise where does it stop? I realize there is a tremendous emotional
sympathy for 9/11 vicitms, but I don't remember the victims of hurricanes,
earthquakes, Oklahoma City or other disasters as getting $1 million
payments. I think this is an encroachment of government to an area that is
best left to private charities. By the way, I did give money to private
charities for the victims.
