It would be a mistake to focus all of our energy on bringing those responsible to justice and not also do everything possible to ease the suffering of the victims so I really appreciate your work. I understand that part of your job is to establish regulations governing the "September 11 Victim Compensation Fund." I know that this will be a complex task but I hope you will include an important consideration as you do your work. Please make sure that compensation is available to all surviving families of those killed, including the committed partners and non-biological children of gay and lesbian victims. Both Islamic and Christian fundamentalists will try to tell you that God's love is conditional and that they (the fundamentalists) are the only ones who really understand those conditions. Islamic fundamentalists created tremendous suffering on September 11. Please don't let fundamentalists of any persuasion convince you to treat the suffering of one group differently than the suffering of another.
