Wednesday, November 07, 2001 8:50 PM Victim Fund 9-11 My hope is that the fund is used wisely for immediate needs rather than to create 'millionaires' from the fund paid for by taxpayers with much less. It appears at this point that private fund-raising efforts have unlimited resources for compensation to victims in need, and public funds should be used to fill any gaps that surface. I hope that needs will be considered when distributing the monies, as many have other resources, such as workers' compensation, life insurance, disability benefits, and social security (to name a few). Hopefully, this will allow future victims protection they may need. Lastly, I hope it doesn't turn into another 'cash cow' for lawyers.
