To: Mr. Kenneth L. Zwick, Director
Office of Management Programs
Civil Division
U.S. Department of Justice

Dear Mr. Zwick,

In recent interviews you have stated, as the head of the September 11 Victim
Compensation Fund , that the partners of gay and lesbian heroes of September
11
will not necessarily receive the same benefits as the spouses of
heterosexual victims of the terrorist attacks.

How is that possible?

What has this entire life altering event taught us? To be predjudice and
dishonest or to have pride and fellowship?

According to the article, even fetuses and illegal aliens will be receiving
benefits
and you will not be punishing American companies that hired illegals in
violation of federal labor laws.

Just when the country comes together and has EVERYONE fighting for our
dreams and commitments, you go and quitely begin to tear apart THE ONLY
THING KEEPING THIS COUNTRY TOGETHER: Hope.

-
who helped bring down the flight in Pennsylvania, had hope.

.
who died in the line of duty when
the first tower fell had hope, and
who was
of the
plane that crashed into the Pentagon had hope. You'd take this away from
them and their partners?

"If September 11 has taught us anything, it's that our
patriotism and love of country transcend our differences and
unite us all. We were told that September 11 was the day
that "hyphenated-Americans" were no more, and rather than
being Italian-Americans, African-Americans or gay-Americans,
we were now simply Americans, all of us together as one
American family."

The only thing that I feel that there is left to say is: the September 11
Victim
Compensation Fund and YOUR discrimination is un-American, and I have hope
that this will turn out fair, honest, and american. What else is this
country fighting for?

Sincerely,

Individual Comment
