RE: Reply from Special Master

sir or madam

Can you please tell me what the outcome of this legislation is?

Are the same-sex partners of victims of the tragedy to be treated the same
as the partners of opposite sex?

Thank you

Dear Sir or Madam:

I write to thank you for your comments concerning the September 11
Victim Compensation Fund of 2001 (the "Fund").

As you know, Congress passed the legislation that created the Fund
and gave the Department of Justice, acting through a Special Master
appointed by the Attorney General, the responsibility for drafting
regulations that will govern how this important program operates. The
Department and I are committed to creating a program that is an efficient,
simple and fair method to compensate eligible individuals. Your comments
are a crucial step in this process. They help to ensure that our decisions
are well-informed and are based on the valuable input of those most
affected.

Your comments have been entered in the official record. I am
grateful for the opportunity to consider your views.

Sincerely,

Kenneth R. Feinberg

Special Master
