Fairness in compensation

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

I have recently come to understand that the victims compensation fund is
apparently not treating ALL victims equally, when deciding whom will receive
monies from the fund.

Equality and inclusiveness have been the chimes of the people for decades
now. Women, Blacks, Asians, Chicanos, Mexicans AND GAYS. Our country has
come together since 9/11, more so than at any other time in recent history;
at least the last 60 years. EVERYONE in this country has suffered as a
result of the terror in N.Y. and the loss of lives.

EVERYONE who died on that day whether in the planes or the buildings or on
the ground died equally. They are ALL considered heroes because of their
circumstance. Some have also been revered more than others because of their
actions, selflessness and patriotism for their individual actions that day.

ALL the families of the people who died on 9/11 have suffered their losses.
The families "look" differently. Some are wives, husbands, fathers, mothers,
children. Others are unmarried significant others, partners, lovers and yes,
children of those significant others.

It is time for our country to accept the changing face of AMERICAN FAMILIES.
As in all other parts of the world, the recognition and acceptance of
"family" now includes those non-traditional families which are different from
the traditional married man and woman.

The U.S. leads the world in most every way and proclaims to other countries
that they must adopt policies of fairness, humanitarian treatment of their
own and other peoples, yet the U.S. government still treats hundreds of
thousands of it's own taxpayers as less than equal, less than human!!

The survivors of the gay men and women who died in the terror of 9/11 deserve
equal treatment under the terms of the victim's compensation fund. I
sincerely hope that the U.S. government will finally stand up to it's motto
of "LIBERTY, FREEDOM AND JUSTICE FOR ALL." What part of ALL, excludes the
gay and lesbian AMERICANS?

Sincerely,

Individual Comment
Phoenix, AZ.
