Washington, D.C. 205530-0001 Dear Mr. Feinberg, We feel it is totally unfair that insurance payments received by families of victims of the WTC disaster should be deducted from any settlement payments. If the victim's families go the litigation route, insurance payments as well as pensions would not be deducted from the final settlement costs. The government is subjecting families to a double hit. First they lose their loved ones to the tragedy of the WTC disaster that should have been prevented by an alert government. Now that same government is penalizing the victim's families by saying that we are going to subject you to further anguish by saying :" If your spouse loved you and wanted to protect you and your family in the event he/she died and had taken out life insurance then this insurance will be deducted from any settlement and you will receive nothing". This is wrong and is an injustice that needs correcting. To do otherwise is to force victim's families to go the litigation route which no one wants. Victim's families want closure. It is the very least the U.S. government can do.
