I know very well that I am not alone in how I feel with regards to the financial compensation the victims from New York are receiving. For one thing everything is about New York. What about the families that died in Pennsylvania? I realize the numbers were greater in New York but the loss of a life is the loss of a life. Even more than that... what precedence are you setting? What makes the loss they suffered any less than that of the Oklahoma city bombing, Pearl Harbor, Bombing of TWA, or any other tragedy where loved ones were lost? I am deeply sorry for their loss. I am one of the many that donated my hard earned dollar to help the cause. But, I do not believe that they have the right to any government funds!! The majority of these families had life insurance and many companies were offering further compensation including health benefits for many years to come. This alone is already more than many other Americans who have lost loved ones have seen. Many lives are tragically lost across the United States every day. Does their life have less meaning just because they were not in New York on that day? What about the homeless, the elderly and the working poor. These people struggle every day of their lives to earn an honest living. Many do not have health insurance. If the government is determined to spend my tax dollars I feel that I should have some say in how it is spent, especially if it is the magnitude that is involved here. If you do not want to help the homeless, elderly or poor and insist on spending more money on New York, would you kindly return it because I could sure use some of it back. The families of New York should be ashamed of themselves to say that 1.6 million dollars is not enough. Are you saying that every American family who suffers a tragic loss is now going to receive 1.6 million?
