Friday, January 04, 2002 4:38 PM 911 survivor WTC Sept 11th was my 2nd day of what was suppose to be a three week stay for training as a Financial Advisor. I was staying in a hotel and working on the floor of the South tower. When the first plane hit we started to evacuate. Then we were told to stay where we were or go back to our offices, then our building was hit by the terrorists. I was injured physically because it took me too long to get down the flights of stairs and I had just made it outside when the tower fell and partially buried me. I was taken to Belleview but not kept in the hospital for 24 hours. I was told to "go home" and be on bed rest for 10 days and to see my doctor ASAP for further medical attention. I didn't lose any body parts, I wasn't impaled with anything, I almost, but didn't suffocate to death but I saw and heard it happen to many other victims that day. My injuries will for the most part heal but the PTSD, nightmares, headaches, inability to concentrate, fear, medication, isolation, loss of short term memory, depression, horrible flashbacks and anxiety, how can anyone say that is not a physical injury? I qualify for the Fund but many of my coworkers don't because they didn't get "physically injured" by someone's standard or they tried to make it back to their home state before seeing a doctor. PTSD is real, it was caused by this tragedy and people will die or be permanently disabled because of it. Who is going to help them? Please consider our situation and understand that PTSD and "pain and suffering" are two entirely different things.
