LC Story: Story
When the disaster of 9-11 happened, I was still in bed. I live in Alaska. It was still very early here with the 4 hour time difference. My girlfriend awoke me with a phonecall. She said a plane hit one of the WTC towers, she sounded very distressed. I flew out of bed and the TV was already on. I turned to FOX news just in time to see the second jet slam into the other tower. This is no accident I remember thinking. I was glued to the tube. I immediantly knew what I was seeing was history in the making. The world I knew along with everyone else had just dramatically changed, forever. I called my Dad and my sister. I called my boss.
LC Story: Memory
My most remembered thoughts of that day were how I had just witnessed a history making change in my life and of the entire world. I kept thinking to myself, 'nothing will ever be the same'. I thought of the horrible deaths of all those innocent people. I thought of the bravery of the passengers in PA. My mother had just recently died, like a month prior. I remember thinking how it was best , if she had to go, that she did before this awful event.
LC Story: Affects
Those awfull events I believe have opened many peoples eyes. No longer is America protected by vast oceans. America is vulnerable now, and people realize it. Personally, I go about life normally. It has changed the way I think about the world. I now know how real the threat to the American way of life is. I now know how much hatred there is for our way of life.
