Dear sir or madam, I cannot convey with enough urgency how strongly I feel about the need to confer help and assistance to all those affected by the tragedies that shook our nation. It disgusts me and shocks me that in this time of mourning there are those who are so bigoted that they would seek to deny compensation to families whose lifestyle they find morally objectionable. Personally, I have no problem at all with homosexuality and support equal rights and responsibilities for gays and lesbians. Even if I hated all of them, however, this would not be the time for me to try and deny them compensation that heterosexuals who also lost loved ones are going to receive. If the bigots succeed in denying these rights to homosexuals, it will tear this country apart. Please, do everything in your power to treat homosexuals and hetersexuals equally in this time or sadness. It is likely that Jerry Falwell and Osama bin Laden will both be upset at homosexuals being treated like human beings, but it is the right thing to do.
