I as all Americans was outraged at the attacks on September 11 but was also inspired by the stories of herorism that emerged from the carnage. It appeared the country was healing as one and that for a moment all that matter was our united humanity. Now I see though am not very surprised that this was a sham. Homosexuals are again being relegated to the second class citizen, subhuman role. While the law seems not to apply to illegal aliens and their families as it should not, suddenly it is being enforced in full against the gays and lesbians and their families and partners! The excuse is that it will be left up to the individual states and that the federal government has not right to interfere. Again the issue of illegal aliens comes up. Why are they receiving compensation but not these legal citizens who happen to be gay. This is the height of hypocrisy and I again feel ashamed to be American.
