On Tuesday September 11, 2001, my brother, of , and 342 of New York's Bravest gave their lives to save over 25,000 innocent civilians. Now the government is telling my family that they will not revive any federal money because of other benefits my family may receive. I don't believe the government can put a price on anybodies life in some formula that was created to bail out the airlines. No amount of money will bring any of these innocent people back, but to say, sorry, you already received enough money due to insurance, pension, or some other reason is absurd. If we were to sue in court, I believe we would be awarded a very large some of money for pain and suffering alone. Perhaps it would take years to collect, but a jury would not take into account any other compensation already received. If the airlines were under insured, that is their problem. If I was involved in a major car accident and I was underinsured, I'm sure my salary would be garnished until the settlement was fulfilled. Please reconsider the rules and distribute the money in a more just manner. My brother was only a firefighter, but was scheduled to take a promotional exam in October of 2001. He had been studying for over 3 years, and would have done well. Your formula does not take into account any future promotions. I don't believe any compensation received should be deducted from the sum that is finally decide upon. Please listen to the wishes of the victims families and reconsider some of the restrictions and rules of this program.
